when Karen asked to see the complete layouts with the shaker boxes. i've decided to show you layouts etc. of a bunch of different ideas I've had and things I've done over the years.
I'll scatter these over the next few months as well.

MMIH ALBUM
[my moment in history]
many of the papers you see below, were self-printed. I used to make a lot of my own paper. not sure why I stopped? maybe I'll pick up that habit again.
________________________
simple but lovely tag to add to a simple layout
torn photo tied down with a bow; packing tape transfer title
other half of the torn photo; hand drawn and chalked leaf
spackled foundation page; stamped, embossed and painted "tag"
spackled and real skeleton leaves foundation page
lots of school photos all on one page
lots of photos (solvent transfers) and info contained on tags all stored on ONE page
dimensional photos with popped out sections
popped out portions of a photo to emphasize what you want emphasized
popped out potion of a photo along with a change in the colour of the popped portion
tag books that contain lots of those extra photos
shaker box page...the paper itself was inspiring to me so I used it for decorative 'rest' page without much else on it
mini album included on the layout
IGNORE the dirty bowl in the photos...:)
self printed paper and another multiple layout on one page
highlighted and popped out sections of the photos and a shaker box
enlarged and printed pages out of my passport
real flower coated with ultra thick embossing powder to preserve
self printed paper; printed passport pages; and a shaker box
big photo made into a shaker box; self printed paper
full layout of the Africa shaker box
photos printed on transparency and put over pattern/ decorative paper
transparency photo made into envelope/pocket which holds a letter
photo cut into sections, sone section popped up and another section made into a shaker box
multiple photos on one page, but different ways of manipulating, printing, and treating the photos
a VERY cool technique using packing tape, photo and a tag. I have NEVER shown you this technique because it's very hard to do and it fails more times than it works and I think I frustrate far too many people far too often, so i will never show you how I do this...
except maybe those in Australia while I'm there so I can show you "hands-on" how to do it...:)
photo printed on vellum and made into a pocket which then contains a letter to Casey; hand twisted metal clip. i LOVE making these clips and I use them a lot!
packing tape transfer of a photo
enhanced and printed on transparency photo
photo printed on a transparency then placed over pattern paper
hand twisted clip; hand made wire letters; shaker box usig a photo printed on transparency as the "window".
8.5 x 11 photo printed then a packing tape transfer done and put all back togther for the layout
that technique I've never showed you, on the 2 tags
hand made wire pregnant lady (yes, i made it)
a tiny pocket made with wire mesh, shrink film tags
my degrees printed and folded into pockets
inside the pockets are the photos that go with each degree/diploma.
jeez i spent a lot of years in University...The kids were so young and little when I graduated from law school. I don't remember those moments and but for the photos, i would doubt they ever happened
a layout dedicated to another passion, tufa birdbaths and alpine troughs; printed the photos on vellum then glued them on top of very "silver" paper. Gives them a "metallic" look
self-printed paper; post card packing tape transfer; tag shaker box
photos of another hobby: painting walls in show homes; photos all printed on transparency
photos printed on transparency; journalling printed right onto a 12x12 piece of paper then I placed the photos overtop so it covers the journalling unless you really want to read it then...
you can lift the photos and read away
self printed angel paper; self-printed night sky paper; photos on transparency over printed journalling
photo printed in colour cyan; shaker box
questions?
store the ideas you like in your memory banks, disregard the rest.

thanks ladies! It didn't take me too long Wendy. As you can see, they aren't great photos so i didn't spend a ton of time waiting for proper lighting, "fixing" the colouring and all of that. hopefully there's ideas there that you're remembering and you'll be able to use down the road.

OMG - you truly are in a class of your own! these are incredible! I just came back when a question popped into my head - and there is ALL this to see - it's AMAZING!!!!! i HAVE TO COME BACK AND LOOK AND LOOK AND LOOK.
Q. - Have you ever done gel transfers onto glass slides?
Q. - How did you do the glass slide on your Christmas layout? - it's a babe in a manger?
Actually that's 2 questions.
Thankyou for posting these full layouts - I am gobsmacked.
I saw a doco on Leonardo the other day - I now 'get' the 'specialness' of the Mona Lisa. You do that thing he did - you achieve the luminosity in your art.
FYI - MONA is a must when you come to Hobart. MONA FOMA started today and MOMA (Mona Market) is running til the end of March. I think you will LOVE MONA.
